2015 Montinore Estate Reserve Gewürztraminer
This is another wine, 2015 Montinore Estate Reserve Gewürztraminer I received from Sarah Shadonix the Owner of Scout & Cellar Clean-Crafted Wines and one of her independent wine consultants Amy Smith Kingsolver. I’m beginning to understand and enjoy Organic wine without Synthetic pesticides or vinified without modification or added sugars. I am pleasantly surprised with the quality of wines made in this fashion. Today we tried 2015 Montinore Estate Reserve Gewürztraminer from the Willamette Valley of Oregon. See my other reviews
Montinore Estates
Montinore Estates is a family run Vineyard with their roots going back to Northern Italy. Rudy Marchesi and his daughter Kristin operate the 200-acre spread. They are committed to Organic Biodynamic farming producing high-quality wines. The 200 acres were planted in 1982 in the northern end of the Willamette Valley. They have various soils that work well with the 9 varieties of grape grown. 2015 Montinore Estate Reserve Gewürztraminer is a fine example of their work.
The Grape: Gewürztraminer
Gewürztraminer is an aromatic grape variety used in white wines. The skin color ranges from pink to rose making ideal white wines. This grape is known for its floral and tropical fruit notes. It’s origins start in Tramino, Italy but is famous for growing in the Alsace region of France. It has gone through multiple mutations to get to where it is today. 2015 Montinore Estate Reserve Gewürztraminer.
What I found
After chilling to the proper temperature of 50 degrees using my Kelvin Wine Monitor as a guide I gave it a go. It has a beautiful straw color that is perfectly clear. The aroma is of Tropical fruit, maybe peach, and flower petals. It’s wildly refreshing. The taste is citrus with a hint of melon. It’s on the dry side with a delicate dry finish. The alcohol is 13.9 and residual sugars are 0.2%. This is a great wine for summer parties and lite fare. I enjoyed this wine immensely. It’s not too sweet and not too dry, just perfect. $25.00 not a bad price. Cheers and be safe. Until next week…
