Nasty Woman Pantsuit Pinot Noir
This is an interesting wine not just for the wine but the message it sends. It is a very politically charged website. I will give you a quote from their site. Nasty Woman Pantsuit Pinot Noir.
“Nasty Women are women, and men (in spirit)…
who are strong, powerful, do good, say what they mean, don’t take guff, watch out for the little person, can admit when they are wrong, and not gloat too much when they’re right.
They are leaders and fighters, and they believe in equality for everyone, regardless of race, class, gender, creed, and sexual orientation. They are not just women on the left. They’re on the right, in the middle and all around us. If these are your ideals, you’re a Nasty Woman. ” The company donates 20% of the net profits to women’s equality.
You can read more at Nasty Woman Wines. This was a wine that Scout & Cellar Clean Crafted Wines and Amy Kingsolver Sent me for a try. This wine is so popular that they are trying to get more. Check with Amy on availability.
The Wine
I can’t find much information on the wine but it is a non-vintage wine to make it more consistent between bottling. It is bottled at Nasty Woman Wines in McMinnville, Oregon. That is about one hour southwest of Portland. Meg Murray and her husband Jerry were preparing to set up another wine business in the Willamette Valley when they were struck by the idea of Nasty Woman. Women’s equality brought it to life. They own Project M Wines which was started in 2016. The grapes come from several local vineyards in the area.
What I found
I let it breathe for an hour before trying. It has a nice clear purple color with brownish edges. It has long pronounced legs running down the glass. I would call the body medium. The aroma is that of sweet cherry and floral along with a hint of alcohol. The taste is Dark fruit, earthy leather. It slightly harsh and sticks to the mouth. This is not a California fruit forward Pinot Noir, Orgon has its own flavor. They tend to be more acidic and this one is. The finish is a very spicy and dry that lasts a while. The alcohol content is 13.5%
I found this a good wine for the value, though it is not my favorite. Maybe would say an 86. I think it would be great with a cheese and meat platter or baked chicken. Try it and let me know your thoughts. Again check with Amy at www.goodcleangrapes.com .
Until next week where I will be doing a Niagara Region wine. Cheers and be safe.
